Privacy policy

This policy explains what personal data designengineers.dev processes, why, and how you can exercise your rights under the EU GDPR and Spain’s LOPDGDD.

Who is responsible

The controller is Eduardo Calvo López, based in Spain. Contact: educlopez93@gmail.com.

Newsletter

If you subscribe, we process your email address on the basis of your consent (GDPR art. 6(1)(a)). We use it only to send Design Engineers Weekly and related operational messages, such as a confirmation or an unsubscribe notice.

The address is stored in our Neon Postgres database and, when the Kit adapter is enabled, in Kit (ConvertKit) so we can send the issue. Kit is a US company. That transfer relies on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and/or Standard Contractual Clauses.

You can withdraw consent at any time: use the unsubscribe link in any newsletter we send, or email educlopez93@gmail.com and ask us to erase the address. We will delete it from Postgres and from Kit. Withdrawal does not affect sending that already happened.

Paid job posts

If you submit a paid listing we store the work email, company name, role title, location, application URL, and description you send. We do not collect a separate personal name field. The legal basis is taking steps toward a contract (GDPR art. 6(1)(b)) and, for invoices and billing records once Stripe is live, our legal obligation to keep tax documentation (GDPR art. 6(1)(c), Spanish tax and accounting rules).

Checkout, when enabled, happens on Stripe via a Payment Link. We do not run a Stripe SDK on this site. Stripe processes the payment and related billing data. We keep invoice-related records for the period Spanish law requires, typically six years.

Hosting and logs

The site is hosted on Vercel. Vercel may process IP addresses, user-agent strings, and similar request metadata in server logs to operate and secure the service. That processing is our legitimate interest in running a reliable website (GDPR art. 6(1)(f)). Logs are kept only for a short period set by the host.

Company logos

Job rows and the home strip show a company’s square isotype. At ingest we store a URL for that mark. Unless a Logo.dev or Brandfetch key is configured, that URL is Google’s public favicon service (google.com/s2/favicons). If that image fails, the browser tries DuckDuckGo’s icon service. Wordmarks, when we have them, come from Logo.dev or Brandfetch.

Those images are not proxied by designengineers.dev. The page renders them with an unoptimized image tag, so your browser requests Google, DuckDuckGo, or the optional logo CDN directly. Those providers may see your IP address and the company domain being loaded.

Cookies and analytics

This site does not use analytics, advertising pixels, or marketing cookies. There is no cookie banner because we do not set optional cookies.

The color-theme control stores your choice in the browser’s localStorage (not a cookie). Fonts are self-hosted at build time. Taste Index stars and npm downloads are fetched on our servers, not from your browser.

How long we keep data

  • Newsletter emails: until you unsubscribe or we erase them on request.
  • Paid listing submissions: while we need them to publish or support the listing, then as records.
  • Invoices and billing data: for the statutory Spanish retention period.
  • Server logs: a short period determined by Vercel.

Your rights

You can ask us for access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, and portability of your personal data. Email educlopez93@gmail.com. We will answer within a month.

You also have the right to complain to the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos (AEPD), aepd.es.

Processors

  • Vercel, Inc. — hosting and logs.
  • Neon, Inc. — Postgres database.
  • Kit (ConvertKit) — newsletter delivery when that adapter is on.
  • Stripe — payments and invoices when a listing is purchased.

Vercel, Neon, Kit, and Stripe may process data in the United States. Transfers are covered by the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and/or Standard Contractual Clauses.

Changes

We will update this page when the processing changes. The date at the top is the last revision. Related pages: Terms and Legal notice.
